Mike Sockol is a senior corporate communications strategist who helps Fortune 500 companies, non-profit organizations, and start-ups tell their stories to global audiences. In the process, he has delivered a wide range of consulting assignments and content development gigs, including leadership and employee communications, reputation management, digital content, video scripts, blog posts, news releases, training programs, and executive speeches.



Mike is an adjunct instructor at New York University, teaching graduate classes in corporate communications and public relations writing.  He also led corporate seminars in storytelling and presentation skills at a large global bank. An advocate for public education, he has served on his township's school board for almost a decade.

Leadership Communications

  • Served as a strategic communications advisor for CEOs/Global Heads of Citi Global Cards, Citi Commercial Bank, Citi FinTech, Consumer Operations & Technology, and Digital Client Experience. 
  • Partnered with Global Crossing’s senior leadership team to strengthen employee engagement by 55% while navigating through multiple challenges, including bankruptcy, rebirth, mergers, and acquisitions.
  • Guided executive communications and external marketing when one of Boston’s most popular contemporary art museums launched its first major capital campaign.
  • Worked with college presidents to demonstrate institutional leadership through editorial placements and connecting university research to real-world issues.

Internal Communications

  • Developed content strategies to help drive employee understanding of Citi’s Mission and Value Proposition by 29% in two years. 
  • Transformed Citi’s Global Consumer Bank Intranet site, growing site traffic from 13K page views per year to 8 million.
  • Led Global Crossing’s internal communications team to develop and deliver multiple, high-profile initiatives, including crisis communications, corporate strategy, executive messaging, and recognition programming.

Digital Initiatives

  • Established global Intranet sites that generated higher credibility ratings internally than the Wall Street Journal.
  • Led digital teams to develop award-winning, web-based communications initiatives for Fortune 500 companies as a consultant with an Omnicom-owned agency.
  • Participated in Stanford-Makovsky Credibility Study 2002 to analyze what factors make Web sites credible.
